Hi, I'm Brenda

The Art Giraffe studio opened in 2015 after I retired from teaching elementary and middle school art at Maconaquah.  I love teaching and sharing my passion for art, so we remodeled a pole barn on our farm and created a welcoming, bright, fun space for others to create in classes or on their own.

About my own artwork:  My favorite medium is currently pen and ink, but liquid graphite is coming pretty close.  So much detail available in values, it is just so fun.  I do watercolor, acrylic, pastels, and some scratch board too or anything that looks like an art medium and fun!  I have won many honors in art show competitions around the area.  In 2020 I entered for the first time the Hoosier Women Artists competition and got recognized with my piece "Teach Your Children Well" which was exhibited in the Lt. Governor"s Office at the State House for 2 year and in now in the Center for History Museum in North Manchester.  I was selected again in 2022 for that honor with the piece "Walk of Contemplation" which is in the State Treasurer's Office.  I have participated and won many awards including at Hoosier Salon, Honeywell Center, Ventures in Creativity in Ft. Wayne, LaFontaine Arts Council in Huntington, Logansport Art Association and others.  Entering shows helps keep me focused and current in the art community
